Christmas Holiday 2008 (1/2)

A rental car trip to Muriwai Beach - one of the less crowded West Coast Beaches.

A similiar feeling as being on the 90 Mile Beach far north.

Going further north this way (click).

Crystal clear fresh water lake!!
*beautiful*

and then further up north to this spot called South Head

=================================================

After another night sleep I made my way to "Port Waikato" (click)
quite a bit South West of Auckland for a night on an almost empty campground.

The Coastline in the background and
the rental car and tent in the right bottom corner

Suddenly: Slips on the road...

On my way back to Auckland, crossing the largest river of New Zealand, Waikato River.
Christmas eve was at my friends house with a good portion of "entertainment fun" and yummy yummy food and a good laugh ;-) still... Since this is my second Xmas being in the Southern Hemisphere... it's easy to realise that nothing beats being with family for Christmas.

ciao & c ya, gagobert

Wellywood - Wellington - 7th DEC 2008

Wellywood - Wellington - 7th DEC 2008

Since I had to apply for a new Passport in Wellington I made a short trip with an one night stay to the capital of New Zealand.

Wellington's airport slogan

How close are you?

flight dates but no dating ;-)

by accident I drove to a remote beach and read the newspaper there.
It stated that on day before I arrived an attempt was being launched from here to cross the Cook Strait (which lays between the North- and South Island) by "Kite Surfing"!
As reported the two guys made it *respect* !
