From the east to the west - coast 2 coast Mountain Bike challange!

Today I completed a challanging mountain bike tour from my home in Auckland City Centre to "Bethells Beach" (click here for a route) which was 42.5km one way - and I had to cross the "Waitakere Ranges (wikipedia english/ deutsch)" which was a steep climb up & a race downwards . Although there were scattered clouds the sun later was shining full on from about midday.

I started my trip at 0930am and got back home at 1800 after having a relaxed stroll on the wild, rugged Beach (Tasman Sea / Tasmanisches Meer) and a lunch-box intake. Nearly a full chocolate bar was my "victim" as well.

My way back (click here for a map, 41.6km) was a little fight since the first part of the trip was already slightly exhausting - but eventually I MADE IT - my "EASTCOST - WESTCOAST SWING" totalling in roughly 90km because on my way back I took a couple of "No Exit Streets" which took nearly one hour of my time and at least an additional 5km.

isn't that spanish?

Somewhere on the track... I had sushi here ($5.99)

Seen on the track (but photo taken on my way back):

@ Berthell Beach:

@ Berthell Beach: Sand colour similiar to Piha Beach (which is South from here)

No life saving service on duty today... it's not peak season yet.

Only a few people where roaming the beach area which was actually quite nice!

Cave in the wall.... and I thought NASA is still looking for the "Black Hole!"

The tide was coming in so I had to hurry up to be out before I would get wet feet...

On the way to Berthells Beach... a beautiful silent and uncrowded Reserve!

And last but not least a link to map that indicates the Mountains

Thats it for now...

I wish all the best and send out some warm regards to all of ya!
